Getting Started

New to Project Ares? Here’s where to begin your Player journey.

  1. Sign in at projectares.app/login.
  2. Watch the 4-minute orientation video to learn the basics.
    • You can always watch it again later by opening the Menu in the top right and selecting Orientation.

Select Your Training

Your organization may already have a training program in place. Select it to complete the learning paths assigned to you.

  1. On HOME, click Begin Training to open your training program.
  2. Click the program to learn the details, which learning paths are assigned, and what comes next.

Your organization may also let you explore individual learning paths on your own.

  1. From the HOME page, click Browse Paths.
  2. Filter by level, time commitment, or search by keywords to select your learning path.
  3. To start, click Choose this path.
    • Training can include missions, knowledge checks, PDFs, and videos.

Explore the Cybersecurity Games

Beyond learning paths, Project Ares offers minigames that reinforce core cybersecurity concepts through fast-paced gameplay. Games are for practice only and don’t affect your XP or learning path progress. You’ll find them under GAMES in the main menu.

  • Astro-Defense – Destroy incoming cyber threats by firing the correct logic gate beam, and master Boolean logic under fire.
  • Cylitaire: Kill Chain – Build the full Cyber Kill Chain across 6 attack sequences. Drag each tool card onto the correct phase to see how real adversary attacks unfold.
  • Trivialoot: Cyber Jeopardy – A Jeopardy-style board for cyber defenders. Pick categories, wager on Daily Doubles, and prove your knowledge in the Final round.
  • Regexile: Codebot Defense – Defend the command base from waves of Codebots by typing regex patterns.
  • Portflow – Route network traffic by connecting port numbers to their matching protocols. Draw non-crossing paths across the grid and race the clock to clear them all.
  • Threat Modeler – Map how an adversary could move through a target network, then see where detection coverage holds and where it has gaps.
